Why I’m learning a new language to heal the world

I’ve started listening to a Podcast, “Start up Chat” with Steli and Hiten.  Two really cool smart guys who most of the time speak over my head (but I’m learning).  In hopes of learning more quickly, I head over to their Facebook Group of the same name.  I drop in on many more entrepreneurs.  I learn a few terms.. one is SaaS businesses (don’t worry if you have to look it up, I did).   I read through the posts and feel a bit anxious as I come on more terms I don’t know and honestly hesitated before I posted.

A bit later, I had a comment from Hiten.  He sent me a link to blogs about metrics. Metrics?   I want to read whatever he suggests.  Hmm.. metrics have to wait.  A few hours later I had another guy comment.  And he wants to help.  Great!   I started messaging with me and he was asking me some pointed questions:

1.  Who is your target Audience?

Lightworkers, Heart centered entrepreneurs, transformational leaders.

2.   What is their pain point?

They want to reach more people

He didn’t seem to like this answer as much.   I wasn’t clear enough.

3.  Do they want to make more money?

Sure.   But that’s not really their pain point.

4.  Do they want more clients?

Yes, but that’s not it.

5.  Ok, what do they want more than anything in the world?

They want to serve the millions of people who want transformation.

I lost him.

I know the world of startups is one I am going to become more comfortable with. I will keep listening to Steli and Hiten.  I’m ready to learn about metrics, venture hacks, and growth marketing.

Pain points.   It’s a question that often comes up when you are talking “target audience”.     When I really started thinking about my target audience their pain point, it’s other people’s pain.

The marketing guy he would suggest they want more money (of course), they want more clients (yes), they want more visibility (yes).  But the reason they have come together, while wanting all of those other things, is to heal the world.

To reach more clients because that means they are helping more people live fuller and happier lives.

To make more money so they can do what they love and also give back to the community.

To be more visible because every time they are more visible it’s taking up the space that some horrible news story was taking up in the news feed.

To come together because the collective of positive energy is stronger than negative.  The vibration of all of us together makes things happen.  We believe the world needs more hope, more light, more laughter, and more love.   We want to reach those people who need a little more of that (and face it, we all do).  We believe all over the world consciousness is being recognized.  People are waking up and realizing they have control over their lives.  We want to be there to usher in the awakening with tools, ideas, support, and healing when it’s needed.

Speakers who inspire.  Writers who make you cry tears of recognition.  Coaches who guide people to reach their potential in every stage of business and life. Healers, psychics, workshop leaders, retreat leaders and every single person who wants to shed their light on the world.

I’m going to have to keep listening to Steli and Hinten, I’m sure there’s a metric for that.  But in the meantime, I can’t call it a pain point.  What my target audience is looking for is not about pain.  It’s about healing.
